Roddy Cantey has served as co-commissioner of the Naples Pro Tennis League since 2021 and has been the owner of ProAm Tennis & Pickleball for more than 16 years. With a lifelong passion for tennis and decades of experience in the industry, Roddy has played a major role in growing the racquet sports community in Naples.

Roddy’s accomplished tennis career began in high school, where he held the No. 1 singles and doubles positions for three consecutive years. As team captain, he led his school to three straight South Carolina 4A State Championships while compiling an outstanding 59–1 overall record. In his senior year, he captured the individual state championship title and was honored as South Carolina’s “Mr. Tennis.”

He continued his tennis career at Penn State University, where he excelled in both singles and doubles competition. During his senior season, Roddy captained the team while competing at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions and advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten Individual Tournament. Throughout his collegiate career, he earned several honors, including Penn State’s “Iron Man” Award during his junior year and the prestigious “Holmes Cathrall Coaches Award” his senior year. Unfortunately, a serious knee injury during his senior season ended his competitive playing career.

Beyond his athletic accomplishments, Roddy has been widely recognized for his sportsmanship and leadership. He was named Sportsman of the Year at the Big Ten Final Banquet during his senior year and remains the only junior player to win the Southern Section Closed Tournament Sportsmanship Award in all three divisions — 14s, 16s, and 18s. In 1998, the Cantey family was honored as South Carolina’s Tennis Family of the Year.

Roddy is married to Sarah Witten Cantey, a member of the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame. Together, they have three children: Everett, Natalie, and Vivian.

MARTINA
FRANTOVA

Martina Frantova, originally from Bratislava, Slovakia, has served as co-commissioner of the Naples Pro Tennis League since 2021 and is the co-owner of ProAm Tennis & Pickleball, a specialty tennis and pickleball retail store in Naples. Her passion for tennis began at an early age after being introduced to the sport by her father, and she started competing at the age of 10. Martina later pursued a professional tennis career on the WTA Tour, reaching career-high rankings of No. 837 in singles and No. 694 in doubles.

After a shoulder injury cut her professional tennis career short, Martina shifted her focus toward academics while continuing to compete at a high level. She graduated from North Carolina State University in 2017 with double majors in Business Administration and Spanish. During her collegiate career, she served as captain of the women’s varsity tennis team, competing in the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles while earning top-30 and top-10 national collegiate rankings respectively.

Following graduation, Martina built experience in coaching, leadership, and business management. She worked as an assistant tennis coach at Florida Gulf Coast University and later as a tennis professional and pro shop manager at the Club at Kalea Bay.

In addition to her work in the racquet sports industry, Martina competes professionally in pickleball and holds a four-year professional contract with the Professional Pickleball Association through 2027, while also competing in Major League Pickleball events. Expanding her professional background even further, she earned her Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license in 2025 and is actively involved in helping clients navigate the home financing process.

Outside of work and competition, Martina enjoys sharing her passion for tennis and pickleball with the local community. She lives in Naples with her two German Shepherds, Sasha and Paco.
